Xtra Time Web Desk : A resurgent South Africa side on Monday sealed a humongous 220 run victory over Bangladesh in the first Test of the two match Test series to go past India in the World Test Championship table for now, sitting at the 2nd place with a win percentage of 66.66.

The Dean Elgar led side on on Monday bundled out Bangladesh for their second lowest Test total of 53 in the second innings, courtesy of a fiery spell by Keshav Maharaj, who took 7 wickets for 32 runs, well supported by Harmer, who took 3 scalps in the innings.

After their huge win, the Proteas skipper Dean Elgar in a post match presentation said, "Pretty special win, it's not often we've had a Test go into five days. It's been a hard graft playing in conditions that we're not used to seeing, we had to apply ourselves well, and we had to execute our skills which was a bit of a challenge for the young-ish bowling unit. It's a hard-fought win, which is a massive positive for us. The conditions played a factor in our team selection with two experienced spinners and seamers who applied themselves well. There are a lot of learning curves for a lot of guys."

Now, with this victory, the Proteas achieved a 1-0 lead in the two match Test series against Bangladesh and are in pole position currently with being placed at the 2nd place in the WTC table.
