Sourav Ganguly to become the new BCCI President?

XtraTime Web Desk: After the Supreme Court approved BCCI’s new draft constitution with a bit alteration, it is in news that former India skipper Sourav Ganguly might become the new President of the BCCI. As per some reports Ganguly is set to replace acting President CK Khanna.

If you look at the new constitution, an official must go to a mandatory cooling-off period of three years who have been in chair for three years. Ganguly, who currently is the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal is adjudged as a top contender as he has no problem to contest in the elections without a cooling-off break.

“He is definitely eligible and ticks most of the boxes,” said a senior BCCI functionary.

Ganguly has already done his job in IPL Governing Council, cricket advisory committee and the Lodha Commission. Not only that he has already been in the good books of the administrators.

Back in 2015 Ganguly’s name again came in contention when Jagmohan Dalmiya passed away during his second stint as the BCCI President. But Anurag Thakur became the President in the month of May 2016 till next year before the honourable Supreme Court sacked him.

Sourav is currently into his fourth term as the President of CAB. Now if Ganguly takes over the post of BCCI President he must leave his post of the state board. Beside that he won’t be doing commentary on television if he gets this post. Ganguly is currently in England for the commentary of India’s tour of England.
