Sourav Ganguly opens up about India’s team selection against West Indies

Kolkata: The Indian selectors have picked the squad for the test series against West Indies which is set to begin from October 4. They have left out Shikhar Dhawan who was not in good form during the test series in England. Though he was the Man of the Tournament in the recently concluded Asia Cup but the selectors want to see a new face like Prithvi Shaw in place of him. Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly too feels that the selectors have taken the right decision to remove Dhawan from the squad.

“I am not surprised with this decision as it was inevitable. He didn’t perform well in England and new faces should get chances as well,” said Sourav while talking to the media.

Sourav looked a bit shocked to see that Bhuvneshwar Kumar isn’t there in the squad against West Indies. Though the selectors have made it clear that they have given rest to Bhuvi as the forthcoming tour of Australia is much more important than this series.” I am a bit surprised with this decision as Bhuvi wasn’t there in England after the final ODI as he was injured and he also didn’t take part in the test series as well, so it’s unclear to me that why he needs more rest,” added Ganguly.

Though the Prince of Kolkata is very happy that the new faces like Prithvi Shaw and Mayank  Agarwal have got their maiden call up.” Prithvi is a very talented cricketer and he can be the asset of the Indian cricket team in near future,” concluded Sourav.
