Shreyas Iyer undergoes special training to overcome weakness against short ball ahead of first test against Bangladesh | BANvIND

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India batter Shreyas Iyer has been toiling hard to overcome the short-ball challenge ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh which is scheduled to begin from Wednesday, December 14 at Zahur Ahmed Chaudhury stadium in Chittagong.

Iyer was seen taking throwdowns from Raghavendra with a slate kept on the wickets. Raghu was bouncing the ball on the slate which was pulled by Shreyas. He looked comfortable while hooking and pulling the ball. This special preparation went on for about 20 mins after he finished batting at the nets.

Shreyas is expected to be included in the playing XI. He might go in at No 5.

Despite performing exceedingly well in the 50-over format, Iyer has had a fair share of problems with the short balls. He was recently bamboozled by Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain by a bumper in the first ODI in Dhaka.

The KKR captain had undergone a surgery to his left shoulder after it got dislocated when he landed awkwardly after putting in a dive while fielding at the boundary during the ODI series against England in March 2021.
