The incident created a controversy with divided opinions on social media, with a plethora of reactions coming in, some standing by the decision and some against it.

On being asked about the controversy after the match, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said, “You didn’t ask me about the first 9 dismissals. It’s part of the game I don’t think we have done something new. It shows your awareness, what batters are doing. I will back my players; she hasn’t done something outside the rules.”

As far as the match is concerned India women won the match by 16 runs to complete a clean sweep. Even with England nine wickets down, Charlie Dean almost took the hosts on the brink of victory. But Deepti Sharma ran her out at the non-striker’s end as she was backing up, to seal India’s win.
