Shakib leaves training, flies to USA for this reason

XtraTime Web Desk: Bangladesh cricket team’s forthcoming tour of Sri Lanka has been postponed and it has affected all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. The 33-year-old all-rounder, whose ICC ban (for hiding the approach information to the authorities) ends later this month was likely to play in the last two Tests of the three-Test series.

“Shakib has stopped coming for the training and is scheduled to return to the USA to be with his wife (Umme Ahmed Shishir) and two young daughters (Alyana and Errum, the second daughter, interestingly Errun was born this year on India’s master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s 47th birthday on April 24)”, one of the sources at the BKSP (Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan), where he came specially (from USA) to train during the suspension period ahead of the Sri Lanka tour, said.

“We are not aware about his future plans and when he would return and whether he would again come here for the training”, the source added.

By the time Shakib returns again, his ban would have ended and he would be free to use the BCB facilities and train with the other players.

The tour postponement also resulted in the financial loss to Musfafizur Rahman. The pace bowler was likely to be signed by one of the two IPL teams -Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders but was denied the NOC (by the BCB) keeping the Lanka tour in mind.

Sri Lanka’s former batting coach Jon Lewis was in negotiations with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the same post.
