Xtra Time Web Desk: Bangladesh superstar cricketer Shakib al Hasan and controversy go hand in hand. The star all-rounder recently lost his cool at a promotional event and started hitting a fan with his cap. The fan allegedly tried to take away Shakib’s cap as he was about to board his car after attending a promotional event. Shakib immediately turned around and started beating the fan with his cap. The incident took place at a promotional event in Chittagong after the first T20I against England.
Shakib has been involved in several controversies over the last couple of years. During the 2023 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Shakib charged at the leg umpire for not giving an overhead wide.
In 2021, Shakib was again involved in a controversy with on-field umpire. Upset with an umpiring decision, a furious Shakib kicked the stumps and smashed them on the ground during a Dhaka Premier League game. The left hander was also handed a ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC) back in 2019 for not reporting corrupt approaches to the games governing body.
As far as Shakib’s image is concerned, he is by far the most popular cricketer in the history of Bangladesh cricket.
