Serie A: Romelu Lukaku takes knee to show support towards Black Lives Matter movement

XtraTime Web Desk: Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku took his knee in support of Black Lives Matter movement after scoring a goal during Serie E clash between Inter Milan and Sampdoria at San Siro on Sunday night. Antonio Conte’s side registered a 2-1 win to see Inter closing in on leaders Juventus. The win took Inter Milan to 57 points from 26 matches while Juventus has 63 points from 26 matches, one point clear of second placed Lazio. Lautaro Martinez scored the other goal for Inter Milan.

Lukaku was on target in the 10th minute of the match. Immediately after the goal, the Belgian striker knelt like millions of people in recent weeks (following the death of George Floyd) to demonstrate his dissent against racism and also to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

Lukaku has now scored 18 goals in his first season in Serie E, the most by any since 1990. Only Ruben Sosa, Ronaldo and Diego Milito have previously managed in their debut campaigns with Inter.
