Serie A: Cristiano Ronaldo scores as Juventus seal ninth consecutive title

XtraTime Web Desk: A first half strike (45+7’) from Cristiano Ronaldo and a goal from Federico Bernardeschi helped Juventus register a 2-0 victory over Sampdoria in Serie A at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday. The win was enough for Maurizio Sarri’s side to secure their ninth successive Serie A title. Juventus so far registered 83 points from 36 matches, seven points clear of second placed Inter Milan with still two rounds to go.

Ronaldo scored from a set piece taken by Miralem Pjanic in the injury time of the first half to take his tally to 31 goals this season from 32 matches. Federico Bernardeschi then sealed the win for Juve in the 67th minute of the match by scoring his first Serie A goal in nearly two years. He converted from a rebound of Ronaldo’s shot. Sampdoria were reduced to 10 men when Morten Thorsby picked up his second yellow for a foul on Pjanic 13 minutes from the end.

It was Juventus’s 36th title in the top flight Italian league and a first for Maurizio Sarri after he replaced Massimiliano Allegri last summer.
