XtraTime Web Desk – SC East Bengal finally scored a goal in Indian Super League. Not once but twice but still couldn’t get all three points against Hyderabad FC as Aridane Santana’s brace and Liston Colaco’s brilliance costed SC East Bengal as three points.

Coach Robbie Fowler few days back said that his team is in the right direction and will do better with more game time. Indeed so, offensively SC East Bengal was way better than their previous matches even though they still missed a number 9. The whole team was showing intent but somehow they were failing to execute. Hyderabad FC were a better side for most part of the match but SC East Bengal did the most important job, they picked up their first ever goal in ISL as Jacques Maghoma put the ball behind the bars in an open situation.

Aridane Santana and company created a lot of chances but none could go past Debjit. Just before half-time, Hyderabad even got a chance to equalise from a penalty after Sehnaj Singh committed an error in the box but Aridane Santana failed to convert from the Penalty as Debjit jumped towards his right and saved. SC East Bengal finished the half with a one goal lead.

SC East Bengal’s fortune changed in the second half. Within a span of just one minute, SC East Bengal conceded twice as Aridane Santana scored twice in the 56th minute. First with a header and second he just put the ball in the empty net after a horrible mistake in the SC East Bengal midfield. That changed the complexion of the match. Liston Colaco then started showing his magic and Narayan Das found it really tough to stop the youngster.

Liston changed his wings for a brief period of time and that ended SC East Bengal’s hope of a comeback. With his dodges, step-ins and step-outs, Liston dribbled past 2 of SC East Bengal’s defenders and passed it horizontally to Halicharayan Narzary, who had no problem to score in an open net. SC East Bengal were 3-1 down in the 68th minute.

The Bengal brigade didn’t give up though. Maghoma completed his brace in the 81st minute to bring the scoreline to 3-2. The match ended with the same scoreline as SC East Bengal now has just 1 point in their last 5 games.

Just like Jacques Maghoma, Debjit Majumdar saved SC East Bengal from losing by a big margin. He saved some crucial shots today and the one which he couldn’t save either ended in the back of the net or hit the post. However the way SC East Bengal defended today will raise a lot of questions and Robbie Fowler needs to solve lots of issues before their next encounter. Hyderabad with the win now has 9 points after 5 games.
