Sanju Samson likely to replace Shreyas Iyer for the ODI series against Australia | INDvsAUS

Xtra Time Web Desk: There is a great chance for Sanju Samson to get back into the Indian squad for the upcoming three match ODI series against Australia starting in Mumbai from March 17. Samson is likely to be named as a replacement for injured Shreyas Iyer. Shiv Sundar Das led selection committee will meet after the Ahmedabad test to name Shreyas’ replacement.

Iyer is ruled out of the ODI series after he complained of lower back pain and was taken for scans after the third day’s play in Ahmedabad Test. As per scan reports, it is a recurrence of his back injury and he will not be risked for the ODI series. Sanju Samson is likely to get a call-up for the three-match ODI series. He was initially not named in the squad.

Shreyas did not bat in the first innings of the ongoing Ahmedabad test match. The cricketer from Mumbai is also doubtful for the start of IPL 2023. According to a statement issued by BCCI, Shreyas complained of lower back pain following the third day’s play in Ahmedabad. He was taken for scans and the BCCI Medical team is monitoring him.                                                                                                                                                                          The KKR captain was rushed for the test series against Australia after missing the ODI series against Sri Lanka. After missing the first test, he played in both second and third tests.

BCCI is reportedly frustrated and the players are also losing trust in the Nitin Patel-led Sports Science division at the NCA.

In the last 6 months, Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar paid the price of a rushed return. Even Ravindra Jadeja’s return was delayed after the NCA tried to rush him to competitive cricket.
