Sania wins second consecutive doubles title, Leander loses in final

Internet Desk: Sania Mirza further proved herself as the single world no.1 in women’s doubles. Within one weak she won second consecutive title with two different partners. On the other hand Leander Paes lost the final of doubles at ATP Winston-Salem Open.

Today Sania Mirza pairing with Monica Niculescu won the women’s doubles title of Connecticut open. Interestingly it was a straight set win for Sania and her partner. They defeated the pair of Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine and Chia-Jung Chuang of Taiwan by 7-5 6-4.

After her break up with Martina Hingis, there was worry about women’s doubles carrier of Sania. However, winning two consecutive titles prior to US Open Sania proved that she can win pairing with anybody.

However, another legend of Indian tennis lost his first ATP tour after the Olympics by loosing the final match of ATP Winston-Salem Open. It was tough competition though.

Leander and his German partner Andre Begemann lost to pair of Garcia Lopez of Spain and H Kontinen of Finland. The match rolled upto super tie break ending with the score of 4-6 7-6 10-8.
