Internet Desk: Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis have decided to end their wildly successful doubles partnership, it was confirmed to on Tuesday. India’s Mirza and Switzerland’s Hingis won nine titles together during the 2015–16 season after teaming up in March 2015.

The team collected three Grand Slam doubles titles and posted an astounding 41-match winning streak, which ended in February at Doha as a result of Russian partners Elena Vesnina and Daria Kasatkina.

Sania Mirza will now play with the Czech Republic’s Barbora Strýcová, while Hingis will partner with the United States’ Coco Vandeweghe at the Cincinnati Masters later this month.

Both Mirza, 29, and Hingis, 35, are currently competing at the Rio Olympics, where Mirza and countrywoman Prarthana Thombare were eliminated from women’s doubles play in the first round. Hingis and partner Timea Bacsinszky have advanced to the quarterfinals.

In addition to her three Grand Slam doubles titles with Mirza, Hingis has won nine additional Grand Slam doubles crowns and five singles championships in her professional career.

Meanwhile, Mirza is set to compete with Rohan Bopanna in mixed doubles this week, while Hingis was forced to pull out of the event when partner Roger Federer became sidelined by an injury for the Summer Games.

Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna, who are being touted as India’s best bet for a tennis medal in the Olympics, have been seeded fourth and will be up against the Australian duo of Samantha Stosur and John Peers in their opening mixed doubles match.

The pair clinched the Olympics berth on the weight of their doubles rankings in the top 10 on June 6. Currently, Sania is world No. 1 and Bopanna is ranked No. 15.

In addition to her three Grand Slam doubles titles with Mirza, Hingis has won nine additional Grand Slam doubles crowns and five singles championships in her professional career.
