Image Source: Xtra Time[/caption] Debasis Sen,St Lucia : Darren Sammy’s apparent axing as West Indies Twenty20 captain has sparked outrage among West Indies cricket fans across the Caribbean. There was a protest outside the stadium with a group of fans slanting slogans against the WICB officials. Sammy, who was present at the ground urged the fans to go inside and support the West Indies team.  He said, “I am here to wish my teammates.” The former World T20 winning West Indies captain shared a few moments with his fans. He was seen posing for selfie and giving autographs to the fans who were protesting for his removal. On being asked what his next step will be, he said, “My next step will be to look after my foundation, trying to do something for the young people in St Lucia and extend it across the Caribbean. I must say I am humbled by the all the support I have received. Remember the men playing out there in the middle have got nothing to do whatever has happened over the last week. So, I would want all of you to go inside and cheer the team.” He also added, “I do not want anyone dictate what Darren Sammy want to do in future. I am a blessed child, and whenever I have faced with adversity, I have always risen above to the challenge. It is just another hurdle and I am just looking forward to continue my life.” A poster read, West Indies Cricket, Down on its knees while another held a poster written Sammy #758 Champion. He deserves better treatment. According to one of the fans protesting, “There is no official message from the CEO or the President of WICB about the axing of Darren Sammy. We felt they have disrespected Darren and at large St Lucians.” Another fan wanted to see the removal of WICB president Dave Cameron. There was poster which said, “Drop me Browne but you cannot remove Sammy.” Sammy took to social media on Friday to announce that he had been sacked as captain and dropped from the West Indies T20 side, after being informed by new chairman of selectors, Courtney Browne, in a brief phone call. Meanwhile West Indies have named all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite as captain for the two matches against India this month in Florida. Sammy, who led West Indies to their second World Twenty20 title earlier this year despite struggling for form, could not find a place in the 13-member squad for the matches at Central Broward Regional Park, Fort Lauderdale on August 27 and 28. "With regards to Sammy's omission from the squad, the chairman (of selectors) noted that the named-squad was selected purely on players' performances," the West Indies Cricket Board said in a statement. Chairman of selectors Courtney Browne thanked Sammy, 32, for his contribution and expected Brathwaite, who blasted four successive sixes off a Ben Stokes over in the April 3 World Twenty20 final in Kolkata, would prove an inspiring captain. "Brathwaite is one of the most talented players in the T20 format of the game and his humble and committed approach to the game can inspire young and upcoming players," he added. Squad: Andre Fletcher, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Evin Lewis, Jason Holder, Johnson Charles, Kieron Pollard, Lendl Simmons, Marlon Samuels, Samuel Badree, Sunil Narine.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osvhtdCAuQI
