SAFF Championship Final 2023: India beat Kuwait 5-4 on penalties to emerge as champions
Xtra Time Web Desk: The Indian senior men’s football team defeated Kuwait 5-4 on penalties to be crowned the winner in SAFF Championships 2023 at Kanteerava stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
India's victory over Kuwait is a significant achievement. Despite Kuwait's initial lead, Lallianzuala Chhangte's goal helped India equalize, leading to a 1-1 scoreline at the end of regulation time.
The match proceeded to a penalty shootout, adding more drama to the proceedings. Udanta Singh missed a penalty for India, while Abdullah from Kuwait hit the post, creating a tense situation. With the scores level, the match entered sudden death.
