Sachin Tendulkar selects a spot for his life-size statue at Wankhede Stadium

Xtra Time Web Desk: Legendary Sachin Tendulkar will have a life-size statue of his at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. Sachin was invited by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Amol Kale to select a spot. The legendary cricketer was with his wife Anjali on Tuesday to select the spot. Tendulkar selected the area outside the MCA clubhouse for the installation of his life-size statue at Wankhede stadium.

“The committee guided me, and in the area outside the MCA lounge, there will be a roundabout which will be created, and the statue will come up there. The background of it will be the stadium and all our action happened there (inside the ground). It is one spot, a crowd can come and get pictures clicked, and at the same time it is accessible,” Tendulkar said after finalising the place.

He also added, “My career started from this ground. My life’s biggest cricketing moment was in 2011 when we won World Cup, last game I played in 2013.All big moments, most of them, happened here…”

The statue is expected to be unveiled on April 23, which is Tendulkar’s 50th birthday, or later this year during the 50-over World Cup, according to MCA officials. Tendulkar already has a stand that bears his name at the Wankhede stadium.

Sachin represented India in 200 Test matches, 463 ODIs, and one T20. In terms of runs scored in international cricket, he has the most runs (34,357) and hundreds (100).
