Xtra Time Web Desk : BCCI is all set to announce the Team India squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa on December 28. And already there are talks over the selection at all corners of Indian cricket. Youngsters like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Venkatesh Iyer are all set to be selected while verteran Shikhar Dhawan is also expected to make his come back.
With Ruturaj Gaikwad being in stupendous form for the last one year or so, there has been a huge buzz around the 24 year old to be Team India’s next superstar opener after Shikhar Dhawan. Although the Delhi opener is still expected to be in the starting eleven for the ODI Series against Proteas but would likely be under tremendous pressure as a result of Ruturaj skyrocketing through the ranks of Indian Cricket.
On the other hand, another one of the shining youngsters of Indian cricket, Venkatesh Iyer is also set to be selected in the squad courtesy of his tremendous all round performance. The 27 year old all rounder would be a vital cog in the wheel for the team if they are to win the ODI series against South Africa. Also, after Hardik Pandya’s fitness issues and absence from the squad the southpaw’s role and workload management would be even more important.
Apart from the two youngsters, other veterans like newly appointed white ball captain Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin are also expected to return to the ODI squad.
