Rohit Sharma picks Suryakumar Yadav as X-Factor for India | T20 World Cup 2022

Xtra Time Web Desk: Indian captain Rohit Sharma has hailed Suryakumar as the X-Factor for his team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022. SKY has been in brilliant form in the last one year especially in T20 format.

“Surya can be India’s X-Factor. Rohit hoped Surya can continue his great form. He reckons SKY is a very confident player and he has confidence and momentum by his side currently,” Rohit Sharma said during the captain’s press conference in Melbourne on Saturday.

Talking about Mohammed Shami’s inclusion in the team as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit said, “I haven’t seen him (Shami) so far. But I have heard that he (Shami) is recovering well. Shami will have a practice session in Brisbane on Sunday and the entire team is looking forward to meet him. We will take a call accordingly.”

According to the Indian captain, all bowlers who are in picked in T20 World Cup squad have played games and experienced enough.

Talking about the injury to Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit said, “Injuries are part and parcel of any sportsmen. You can’t be too disappointed. You have to think about what you can do. The team management have to give chances to other players, and they performed well. It’s important to give chances to all those players.”

As far as the marquee clash against Pakistan is concerned, Rohit said, they will be well prepared.

“We will be well prepared. Everyone knows who is going to play. I don’t believe in taking last-minute decisions,” said Rohit

On a lighter note Rohit said that both he and Pakistan captain Babar Azam prefer talking about families, life and new car rather than cricket.

The T20 World Cup 2022 is all set to kick off from Sunday onwards in Australia and before the start of the tournament all 16 captains addressed in a mega press conference on Saturday. The qualifying stage of the tournament will begin from October 16 onwards where four teams will be vying for a spot in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup.
