Rohit & Jadeja summoned by match referee Andy Pycroft; no official complaint from Australia | INDvsAUS

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Indian captain Rohit Sharma were questioned by ICC match referee Andy Pycroft after the play on Day 1 of the first test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Australian team has not made any official complaint though. The good thing for Indian team management is no charges were brought against the left arm spinner either from ICC nor Australian team.

The strange incident took place when Australia was 120/5.  Jadeja was seen applying something on his spinning finger. After the day’s play Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja informed ICC match referee Andy Pycroft that the spinner was only applying pain relieving ointment.

Normally if any spinner have a long break, especially the spinners, they develop calluses from gripping the seam and flicking the ball out as they bowl. Jadeja had not played in a Test since suffering a knee injury in July 2022.

India were 1-77 at stumps after day 1, with Jadeja finishing with 5-47 as Australia were bowled out for 177.
