Roger Federer Records 300th Grand Slam Win

Internet Desk : Roger Federer became the first ever  male player to register 300 grand slam singles win with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Grigor Dimitrov  in the fourth round of Australian Open 2016 at the Rod Laver Arena on Friday.  Only Martina Navratilova  has won (308) more matches than the Swiss.

After Federer Jimmy Connors was next- with 233 and Andre Agassi had 224.

Fifth seed Maria Sharapova struggled to defeat Lauren Davis to advance to the third round. The Russian who had won her 600th match beat the 22 years old Davis 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0..

The defending champion Serena Williams surge to the fourth round after defeating 18-year-old Russian teenager Daria Kasatkina 6-1, 6-1 . The American took just 45 minutes to reach the last 16 of the Australian Open.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic beat Andrea Seppi 6-1, 7-5, 7-6 at Margaret Court Arena on Friday night to ease into the fourth round of Australian Open 2016. Novak took the first set in just 25 minutes, Djokovic will now face French 14th seed Gilles Simon, who beat Federico Delbonis 6-3 6-2 6-1 earlier on Fridayafternoon.

Tomas Berdych beats Nick Kyrgios 6-3,6-4,1-6,6-4 to continue his run in the Australian Open. Berdych will now face Spaniard Roberto Bautista.

Belinda Bencic beat Ukraine’s Kateryna Bondarenko4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Swiss teen Bencic will shine even brighter if she can upset world number five Maria Sharapova in the fourth round on Sunday.

Spaniard Roberto Bautista upsets Marin Cilic. The Former US Open champion has been beaten 6-4, 7-6 (5), 7-5 by Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain.

Agnieszka Radwanska beat Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig 6-4, 6-0 to reach the round of 16 at the Australian Open for the sixth straight year. Radwanska will be facing  Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany, who edged past 13th-seeded Italian Roberta Vinci 0-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Former finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga secured a hard fought victory with a 6-4, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (4) win over fellow Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert to advance to the fourth round.

Japanese Kei Nishikori has reached the fourth round for the 5th consecutive year with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

Mahesh Bhupathi partnering Gilles Muller of Luxembourg  lost 3-6,2-6 to the Bryan brothers in mens doubles second round . Bryan brothers took just 53 minutes to go through to the third round .
