Xtra Time Web Desk: It was a dream come true moment for Rishabh Pant as he was named India’s new T20 captain after KL Rahul was ruled out with a groin injury from the series against Proteas starting on Thursday in Delhi.
A visibly satisfied looking Pant walked into the press conference room amidst applauds from the local media. And why not as he absolutely deserved it. What a moment will it be for the fans when Pant will walk in for the toss at Arun Jaitley stadium. It is expected to be a full house on Thursday for the series opener and the fans will have double delight.
How did Pant prepare for his first match as India captain in front of home fans. The dashing wicketkeeper batter looked quite relaxed as he walked for the optional training session along with his deputy Hardik Pandya. The left hander was seen striking big hits as Nuwan tossed the ball to him. It went for about 20 minutes before he joined Hardik Pandya, Head Coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour for a discussion assuming about the series opener.
As Pant walked out of the ground, Pant was approached by a local cricketer with whom he discussed for a long time. A full house is expected at Arun Jaitley Stadium for Rishabh Pant’s debut match as captain for India.
