Rishabh Pant likely to miss ODI World Cup as his recovery will take longer time

Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes a big setback for Team India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant, he is likely to miss the ODI World Cup scheduled in October-November. The 25-year-old will take at least another 6-7 months to recover fully and return to the field. According to a report in Cricbuzz, the dashing cricketer is expected to return to action in January 2024.

Pant is still walking with the help of crutches. He is expected to be able to walk alone in the coming weeks. The left-hander on Wednesday reported to the National Cricket Academy for his rehabilitation.  

Rishabh will also miss the upcoming World Test Championship Final against Australia starting at the Oval from June 07. He was not kept in the 15-member India squad which was announced on Tuesday. Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer too was not selected as they are recovering after their surgeries.

It is also speculated that Pant’s return as a wicketkeeper will be uncertain given the extent of his injuries. He injured all three of his ligaments and will need to build strength to resume wicketkeeping.
