Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant, who was released from the Indian squad ahead of the ODI series has re-joined the squad in Chittagong. Pant did not come for the optional training session though on Monday.

There were speculations about his availability for the upcoming test series after he was surprisingly released from the Indian ODI squad. The BCCI didn’t reveal the specifics, only saying in a statement that the decision had been taken “in consultation with the BCCI medical team” and “no replacement has been sought”.

Meanwhile, KS Bharat is being prepared by the Indian team management in case he is required. With KL Rahul too in the side, it will be highly unlikely for Bharat to break into the playing XI for the first test. It will be much clear when Indian team will have its practice session on Tuesday at the Zahur Ahmed Chaudhary stadium. The wicket-keeper batter from Andhra Pradesh was seen having a long chat with Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid. He also went through various wicket-keeping drills with fielding coach TP Dileep. Later he was also seen doing some catching practice along with Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill in the slips.

As far as Rishabh Pant is concerned, his fitness will be assessed during Team India’s training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
