Rishabh Pant express shock at Sonnet club being served eviction notice

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant on Monday expressed his displeasure on Sonnet club being served eviction notice by Venkateswara College. The club has been operating at the college since 2000. But the authorities recently received a notice to shift base.

Taking to Twitter, Pant expressed his sadness about the club’s eviction, saying that it was disheartening to see a club that had produced many international cricketers being served with an eviction notice. Pant believes that the Sonnet Cricket Club is not just a club, but a heritage institution and a home for many budding cricketers. He also requested that the college reconsider its decision and acknowledged that the players had always followed the college’s rules.

“It is so disheartening to see my club that has produced so many international cricketers over the years and continues to do so has been served an eviction notice. It played a major role in shaping my cricketing career and many more like me. This is like a home for all of us,” Pant tweeted.

“We have always followed the rules set by the college. I would like to request the governing bodies of Venkateshwara College to reconsider this as Sonnet club is not just a club, it’s like a heritage institution and a home for so many budding cricketers,” the southpaw added.

The Sonnet Cricket Club has been instrumental in shaping the cricketing careers of several star cricketers, including Pant, Ayush Badoni, and Hrithik Shokeen.
