Today she fought against Johanna Mattsson of Sweden in 58kg Freestyle category. after that cousin Vinesh Phogat also advanced to the quarterfinals. Sakshi won her first match by 5-4 after trailing by 4points. The second match was drawn by 5-5. However, Sakshi won it by better points earning. She lost the third match she lost against Russian wrestler. She still has the chance to win the Bronze Medal in the repêchage match. The opponent is yet to be decided. Another wrestler Vinesh Phogat unfortunately ruled out of the Olympics. Vinesh loses won the first match by a huge margin of 9-2. But in the quarterfinal match she got a severe knee injury which ruled her out from the match. However, it was unfortunate for Kidambi Srikanth as he lost to Lin Dan of China after a tough fight in the quarterfinal. After P V Sindhu qualified for the semifinal expectation was much on Srikanth. However, he lost to two times’ Gold Medalist of Olympic. The first set was frustrating as Srikanth lost by 21-6. But in the second set he fought back to win it by 21-11 to lead the match upto the third set. Srikanth was in a leading position till the 11points. Later Lin Dan took the charge. However, till the win Srikanth kept hope of winning. Finally in third set he lost by 21-18. In the athletics Indian Medal contender TIntu Lukka could not meet the expectations. In the first round she was out coming at the sixth position among eight runners. Only two from every heat qualified for the quarterfinal.
