Internet Desk: Indian women’s hockey team conceived their third consecutive lose in the Rio 2016. This time they lost to USA whom they defeated in their Rio Olympics practice matches in their own country.

USA beat India by three goals. Indian eves could not net the ball for a single time. With the loss, India remained as one of the bottom two teams with just one point from four matches in the six-team Pool B standings as their chance of making it to the quarterfinals worsened.

However, India still has a feeble chance to reach the quarterfinal. They have to beat much higher ranked Argentina. At the same time Japan has to lose their last match.

Till now Indian eves has not showed brilliance to get the berth of quarterfinals except the first match where they made a draw. So there is least chance for them to win over Argentina.

In yesterday’s match Kathleen Bam (14th, 42nd minutes) struck twice for the Americans while Melissa Gonzalez (52nd) scored the third goal. The only point of worry for the US in Thursday’s match was the fact that they had earned as many as eight penalty corners but could not convert a single one.

The Indians did better in the second quarter as they were able to stop the Americans from scoring, including from the two penalty corners. In the 20th minute, Rani Rampal’s reverse hit found the target but it turned out that the ball sounded the board after being deflected from Preeti Dubey’s leg to the disappointment of the Indian supporters.
