Starting cricket at an early age at the hands of his father, Arvind Shivlal Pujara who himself was a Ranji cricketer from Saurashtra, the prolific batsman who has over 3900 runs in test was very committed to the sports. In an exclusive interview with www.xtratime.in correspondent Sabyasachi Bagchi, Mr. Arvind Pujara shared the childhood memories and the cricket journey of his son. “When he was small about 8 years old I used to teach him.  In the railway quarters at Rajkot where we stayed, there was a big playing ground and all the kids used to play there” said Arvind. 2010 was a setback for Pujara as he suffered a major torn ACL and was under recovery period for 6 months. Considered to be a major injury for the sports-persons, Pujara strived harder and made a brilliant comeback. “During the 2010 period he faced a major ACL injury and underwent a major operation. At that time he was in the KKR squad and Shah Rukh Khan suggest that the operation should be held in South Africa and he helped us a lot during that time” On being questioned about the upcoming 50th test Pujara's father said, "50th is just a number, it has equal importance as compared to others. the importance of the 49th test is similar to 50th test as well as the 100th test. Playing a test match is a different feeling altogether" Pujara happens to be one of the few cricketers of the nation who doesn’t get a chance to play in the IPL. As a result he prepares himself in England, playing the County games. “The atmosphere is different there, and the game there is extremely competitive which serves him well” said Pujara’s father. “Since childhood we have been discussing cricket and even till now we discuss to improve his game. He also gets value inputs from the great Rahul Dravid” concluded Pujara’s father.
