Revealed: An advice from Dhoni during IPL 2020 helped him become a better bowler, says T Natarajan

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India’s promising left arm fast bowler T Natarajan revealed how an advice from former India captain MS Dhoni during IPL 2020 helped him become a better bowler. The left arm fast bowler from Salem has been a revelation ever since he made his debut for the country against Australia Down Under. The shy looking bowler from Tamil Nadu had a brilliant outing in the last IPL 2020 season in UAE. He caught the eyes of everyone with his ability to bowl deadly yorkers constantly.  Natarajan played a crucial role in helping Sunrisers Hyderabad qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2020. Following which he was soon picked as a net bowler for India’s tour to Australia. He went to make impressive debut across all the three formats Down Under.

In an interview to ESPNcricinfo, Natarajan said, “I pitched one in the slot and he hit me for a big six – 102 metres or something. On the next ball, I got his wicket and didn’t celebrate. I was just thinking about that previous ball. After coming back to the dressing room, though, I was happy.”

He further revealed that he had a chat with Dhoni after the match against CSK. The Chennai Super Kings captain to use all his variations to become more effective with the ball.

“After finishing the match, I also had a chat with him. Speaking to somebody like Dhoni itself is a big thing. He spoke to me about fitness and encouraged me, saying that I will keep getting better with experience. He said, use slow bouncers, cutters, and variations like that. It has been useful for me,” said T Natarajan.

Natarajan will look forward to repeat the same performance in IPL 2021 like last season. And this time he will have the advice of MS Dhoni.
