Real Madrid and Liverpool held by their respective opponents amidst rapid spread of COVID 19 in Europe

Xtra Time Web Desk : European giants, Real Madrid and Liverpool were held by their opponents namely, Cadiz and Tottenham respectively on Sunday in what was a COVID affected day in Europe.


One one hand, Real Madrid were held to an unlikely 0-0 draw by La Liga’s minnows, Cadiz FC. The Los Blancos despite having 82% of the possession and 36 shots on goal failed to capitalize on their opportunities and as a result of that they could not score for a single time against a resolute defense of the opposition.


On the other hand, Liverpool were held by Antonio Conte’s Tottenham, who attained a hard fought 1 point in a tough tussle. Although, Spurs took a lead through their talisman Harry Kane on the 13th minute mark but soon the Reds took complete control of the the game with more possession on the ball and equalised through Diogo Jota in the 35th minute.


The second half however didn’t lack intensity as the match was a end to end clash. Liverpool came back from behind in the first half to take a 2-1 lead in the 69th minute through Robertson. But the lead only lasted for 5 minutes as Son scored Tottenham’s equalizer in the 74th minute. Although there were no goals after that in the second half but Reds’ scorer Andy Robertson saw a red card in the 77th minute.
