Xtra Time Web Desk: A superb comeback from Ravindra Jadeja (47/5) and a solid half century (56 from 69) from captain Rohit Sharma saw India in drivers’ seat at stumps on Day 1 of the first test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy at VCA stadium on Thursday. After bowling out Australia for 177, India have scored 77/1, losing the wicket of KL Rahul for 20. India is trailing by 100 runs with Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin are the two not out batters at crease at stumps.

On a dusty pitch, Shami and Siraj provided India with early breakthroughs, removing both Australian openers Usman Khawaja and David Warner. But Marnus Labuschagne (49 off 123) and Steve Smith (37 off 107) steadied the Australian ship with an 82-run stand.

However, India made a brilliant comeback after Lunch. Jadeja with four wickets and Ashwin with two bamboozled the Australian batters with their spin as the visitors were bowled out for 177 runs from 63.5 overs.
