File Pic[/caption] Internet Desk: East Bengal’s Nigerian striker Ranti Martins termed the resignation of coach Biswajit Bhattacharya and assistant coach Debjit Ghosh as an “amateurish act.” Ranti came to know about the resignation of both Biswajit and Debjit only after attending the practice session at the club ground today morning. According to the Nigerian striker, “As a team we have failed to bring success. We all should be held responsible for the failure. I was surprised to hear that both our coach and assistant coach have resigned from their post. To me it’s a sheer amateurish act.” Ranti feels as a coach one has the responsibility to see the end of the season. Just as a professional footballer, a coach cannot shy away from his responsibility. “We still have a match remaining in I League against Lajong on April 24. I am stunned to hear that he (Biswajit) has left as the coach before the end of I League. He should have continued till the end of I League.” Ranti has so far scored 12 goals in the I League so far. “As a professional footballer I cannot shy away from my responsibilities. It’s a pity that coaches can resign but we players do not have that luxury. We have to honor our contract with the club,” said Ranti. The Nigerian footballer also took a dig at some of his teammates. According to him there were quite a few players in the team who were not willing to take the responsibility. As a professional footballer one has to be committed towards the club. He cited his example taking the role of a leader wherever he has played in his career. “I always took the role of a leader wherever I played in my career. I am a professional player and hence cannot shy away from the responsibility. There are quite a few players in this team who were willing to run away from responsibility.” East Bengal are due to play Shilong Lajong in their last I League encounter on April 24. Ranti wants everyone in the team to give it their best shot and try and salvage some pride. Meanwhile French international Bernard Mendy is doubtful for Shillong Lajong tie. Mendy did come mid-way into the practice session at the Howrah Stadium . He did not take the field though. A final decision on his availability will be taken only after assessing his fitness at the practice session on Tuesday.
