Xtra Time Web Desk: The Indian cricket team was welcomed by torrential rain as they arrived at the Queen’s Park Oval for the first practice session on Wednesday. It was an optional practice session with batters Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer turning up along with Arshdeep Singh. Due to the rain the Indian players trained at the indoor nets.

The forecast is for more rains on Thursday as well. The batters were given throwdowns by batting coach Vikram Rathour, Raghavendra, Nuwan and Dayanand. Arshdeep was seen bowling at one net in the presence of bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rahul Dravid were involved in some serious conversation as well. The southpaw along with other Indian batters spent their fair share of time to feel the bat with the ball at the nets.

Shreyas Iyer was also involved in a long discussion with Vikram Rathour after he finished practicing at the net.

Shubman Gill has been named in the Indian ODI side in the absence of big stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav are likely to join the side ahead of the T20I series.

The Indian team has a very good record at the venue having not lost a game since 2007.

BCCI shared a video of the indoor nets with a caption, “Gearing up for ODI No.1 against the West Indies. Here’s @ShubmanGill giving a lowdown on #TeamIndia’s first net session in Trinidad #WIvIND”
