Qatar 2022: Morgan Freeman, Jung Kook steals the opening ceremony at Al Bayt stadium

Xtra Time Web Desk: The wait finally ended as the FIFA World Cup 2022 began with a glittering opening ceremony at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar, to capacity crowd. The opening ceremony started with French icon Marcel Desailly handed the World Cup trophy to the crowd.

Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman enthralled the packed stadium with his message of hope, togetherness, and tolerance, BTS singer Jung Kook stole the stage with his new song, “Dreamers,” at the opening ceremony.

Following Morgan Freeman, the stadium was filled by mascots from past FIFA World Cups. A mashup of songs from past FIFA World Cups played simultaneously.

There was also some outstanding lighting on show. Following some stunning lightsaber performances and the FIFA World Cup songs, BTS frontman Jung Kook approached the stage to loud cheers. He sang the song “Dreamers” while being accompanied by Qatari vocalist Fahad Al Kubaisi. Jung Kook thrilled the crowd with his stunning performance.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani welcomed the world to Qatar for FIFA’s huge event after Jung Kook’s performance. The FIFA World Cup 2022 opening ceremony came to a finish, as the World Cup 2022 was officially proclaimed open with fireworks at the Al Bayt Stadium.
