PV Sindhu creates history, becomes the first Indian to win World Championship

XtraTime Web Desk: India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu creates history as she won her first Badminton World Championship title by beating Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in straight games on Sunday.

Sindhu, who was playing in her third consecutive world championship final, was at her absolute best as she dominated Okuhara to win 21-7, 21-7 and become the first Indian to win a gold medal at the world championships.

The Indian was on the attack from the off and took a 11-2 lead in the first game. Sindhu looked like she could do no wrong as she cruised through the first game in just 16 minutes, winning it 21-7.

The second game wasn’t too different. She raced to a 11-4 lead against the Japanese, who defeated her in the final in 2017. Sindhu looked unstoppable from there on, finishing the match in just 37 minutes.
