Prithvi Shaw slams second highest first class score | Ranji Trophy 2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India discard Prithvi Shaw made a strong statement to the selectors as he scored the second highest runs (379 off 383 balls) in Ranji Trophy history. Prithvi slammed his maiden triple ton on Day 2 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy clash between Mumbai and Assam at Amingaon Cricket Ground in Guwahati. BB Nimbalkar still holds the record of scoring the most runs in a single innings. He scored 443 runs against Saurashtra in the 1948/49 season.

Prithvi has now the highest individual scorer for Mumbai in a single Ranji Trophy innings. Sanjay Manjrekar held the record of 377 runs for Mumbai against Hyderabad in the 1990-91 season. This was Shaw’s first century in the Ranji Trophy this year. He scored 160 runs in his last seven innings, averaging 22.85 and posting a high score of 68.

Despite constantly scoring in the domestic circuit, the 23-year-old has not been selected to play for India since July 2021.
