Prime Minister Narendra Modi watch first day’s play with Australian PM Anthony Albanese | INDvsAUS

Xtra Time Web Desk: It was an unbelievable atmosphere at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the first day of the fourth test match on Thursday. Thousands and thousands of spectators turned up to watch the first day’s play. Such a turnout is quite a familiar sight for a political rally. At least 1 lakh spectators is expected for Day 1 of the test match, making it a record turnout.

The occasion was grand as the Prime Ministers of both India and Australia were at the venue to watch the first day’s play. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian PM Anthony Albanese were greeted with huge applause as they took a lap of honour around the stadium in a golf car decorated like a chariot. Both Prime Ministers handed over the Test caps to their respective team captains Rohit Sharma and Steve Smith.

India is currently leading the Border-Gavaskar series by 2-1. A win in the final Test will ensure the team qualifies for the final of the ICC World Test Championship, where they will be facing Australia at the Oval from June 7 onwards.
