Xtra Time Web Desk: Manchester City was crowned the champions of Premier League season 2020-21 after Leicester City defeated Man United 2-1 at Old Trafford on Tuesday. It was the third Premier League title for City in four years and second under coach Pep Guardiola. With still three rounds to go, the title for City stamped their dominance throughout the season. They are 10 points clear of their arch rivals Manchester United, with 80 points from 35 matches.

A late defeat for Man City to Chelsea last weekend kept United’s hopes alive after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side won against Aston Villa. But a shock 1-2 defeat against Leicester at home brought an end to their title aspiration.

City have now won three Premier League titles and eight major trophies under Guardiola, who last year signed a new two-year contract to remain at the club until 2023. Pep will have an opportunity to increase the silverware as City has already booked a place in the final of Champions League against Chelsea.

In a season like no other, one which has been significantly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, City have shown remarkable consistency in turbulent times, overcoming a grueling fixture schedule by heavily rotating the squad to ensure every player has played a part in this success.
