Premier League: Hat-tricks from Haaland and Foden give Man City 6-3 win over United at Etihad

Xtra Time Web Desk: Erling Haaland scored his third consecutive hat-trick at home as Manchester City defeated arch rivals Man United 6-3 in Premier League at Etihad stadium on Sunday. Phil Foden also scored a hat-trick for City. Anthony Martial and Anthony dos Santos were on the scoresheet for United. The result saw City back a point behind Premier League leaders Arsenal and looking very much like major players in the race for that crown once again. United remain sixth spot in points table.

Phil Foden opened the scoring for Man City in the eighth minute. Erling Haaland scored twice in 34th and 37th minutes and 48 seconds to extend the lead for the home side. Just two minutes from the break, Foden found his second as City headed into the break with a four-goal lead.

In the second half, Manchester United held more authority and were deservingly awarded when Antony put the ball past Ederson to reduce the deficit in the 56th minute. Haaland scored his hat-trick in the 64th minute to extend the lead to 5-1 in favour of the home side.

Not so late after it was Foden’s turn to get his hat trick in the 72nd minute. While it was thought that Manchester United has given up on the tie, Anthony Martial scored a brace in 84th and 90th minute. But that did not stop City to a thumping 6-3 victory against their neighbors.
