Xtra Time Web Desk: Manchester City were crowned the champions of Premier League on Saturday after Arsenal suffered 0-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest. It was the fifth title for Pep Guardiola’s boys in six seasons. The club will be handed over the trophy after their final home game against Chelsea at the Etihad stadium on Sunday. The entire squad celebrated the title win as they watched the game between Gunners and Forest.

Manchester City now has four points lead over Gunners who have just one game remaining in the season. It has been a terrific run for City winning their last 11 games on the trot. Ilkay Gundogan led side has 85 points from 35 games followed by Arsenal who have managed 81 points, having played two more matches.

At one stage in January, City trailed Arsenal by eight points but the reigning champions have remained unbeaten since they suffered a 0-1 loss at Tottenham on February 5.

City now have a chance to winning the treble as they will face arch rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on June 3, followed by taking on Inter Milan in the Champions League final on June 10 at Istanbul.

Only Manchester United achieved a treble during 1998-99 under the coaching of Sir Alex Ferguson.
