Premier League 2022: Open top bus parade for Champions Manchester City players on Monday

Xtra Time Web Desk: Manchester City squad will celebrate retaining the Premier League title with an open-top bus parade through Manchester city centre on Monday 23rd May. Pep Guardiola and the squad will depart from Exchange Square at approximately 6pm, travel onto St Mary’s Gate and then south on Deansgate, before finishing at the Beetham Tower where a live stage show will take place with the Champions.

There will be an onstage entertainment which will start at 4:30pm local time with the players expected to arrive at approximately 7pm. The parade will be hosted by Manchester City’s City Square presenters Danny Jackson and Natalie Pike, who will be joined by former players and special guests. There will also be live music from bands and DJs.

It was an extraordinary final day Premier League title triumph for City who came from two goal deficit to outplay Aston Villa 3-2.

Super sub Ilkay Gundogan was the main architect behind City’s comeback win. Villa took the lead through Matty Cash’s 37th-minute opener, and former Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho left City devastated when he lashed Villa two goals clear in the 69th minute.

But Ilkay Gundogan’s header and Rodri’s low strike dramatically hauled the hosts level with two goals in three minutes, before super-sub Gundogan slammed home City’s third nine minutes from time, dashing Liverpool FC’s hopes of a quadruple.
