XtraTime Web Desk: Former Australian opener Mathew Hayden made headlines for using the Mongoose bat during the 2010 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Everyone was talking about the Mongoose bat after the strongly built former Chennai Super Kings opener scored a stroke filled 93 off just 43 balls against Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals). Interestingly, Hayden introduced the Mongoose bat for the first time during that season. Hayden on Friday revealed in an Instagram live chat on the franchise’s Instagram handle how MS Dhoni pleaded him not to use the Mongoose bat. “I get a lot of questions around this particular product (Mongoose bat). I remember MS Dhoni saying, ‘Mate, I will give you anything you want in your life, please dont use this bat’. But, the fact is, when I hit from the middle of this bat, it goes 20 metres further. That bat was step in the right direction and it was a brave and courageous decision to use it,” Hayden said in the live interaction. Interestingly, the burly Aussie still had that Mongoose bat with him and showed it live to the viewers.
