Debasis Sen, Melbourne: Fox Sports will be keeping one of its crew members continuously monitoring what is captured on the sound effects mics during the Boxing Day test match at Melbourne. Following the conversation between the rival captains Virat Kohli and Tim Paine, which made headlines during the Perth test, the network is stepping up the hunt for hidden gems recorded on their stump microphones. Rishabh Pant has already become a favourite with his banters behind the stumps. The network will be focusing more on his ceaseless banter, which he did during the Perth test. The changes to the International Cricket Council's policy on stump microphones have led to some of the juicier storylines of the series and brought fans closer to the game. It is doubtful viewers would otherwise have heard Tim Paine's cheeky sledge at Virat Kohli, directed via Murali Vijay, or what was said between Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja in their on-field blue. Fox Sports' head of television Steve Crawley wants to find more moments that he believes will add to their coverage. According to Crawley, “Because it's new, we'll get someone to go through and have a look.” Talking about Pant, Crawley said, “I think this Indian keeper, he's so much fun. He switches between English and Hindi. He's a real character, there's potentially some nice pieces there. He's just a character, he makes me laugh." The network is respectful of the trust players have placed in broadcasters and is not looking to get them into trouble. "We're not using the stump mics to trap people at all, we've got no interest in that at all," Crawley said.
