Commonwealth Games 2026: India's Full Schedule, Time In IST, Telecast, Live Streaming

XtraTime Newsdesk: India's campaign for the 2026 Commonwealth Games begins on Thursday (July 23) with Lawn Bowls, which brought the country one gold and one silver medal at the Birmingham 2022 Games. With the tournament's reduced quota, India's chances of winning a top medal will mainly revolve around three strong sports: athletics, weightlifting and boxing.

Leading the way is javelin star Neeraj Chopra, who is aiming for gold but will face his biggest rival in the event, reigning Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan. In athletics, India is also pinning its hopes on long jumper Murali Sreeshankar, triple jumper Praveen Chitravel and distance runner Gulveer Singh.

In weightlifting, Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu is the clear favorite to win the 48kg category, while Binjalani Devi and Gyaneshwari Yadav are also eyeing a podium spot. The boxing team is led by Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain and world champion Jasmine Ramboria, supported by gold contenders Sakshi Chaudhary and Preity Pawar. Apart from the core trio, heavyweights Tulika Maan in judo, Lawn Bowls and world medalist Soman Rana in para-athletics are among India's best chances of making the podium.
