A Son’s Promise: Rohit Das Returns to Football a Day After His Father’s Funeral

Rohit, who has signed for Southern Samity this season, revealed the emotional moment that changed everything.
"My father passed away on the 10th. The next morning, on the 11th, my mother, while crying, told me, 'Whatever happens, don't give up your father's dream. Don't leave football.' So I went straight to training wearing the traditional mourning cloth. I thought, if my mother could stay strong, then I had no reason to break down."
That is where the story takes a remarkable turn.

"My father is the reason I'm still playing football," Rohit said. "Even while he was admitted to the hospital, I continued training. I had to balance everything—my father's illness, my family responsibilities and football. On one side was my father's life, and on the other was my father's dream."
Rohit also alleged that medical negligence led to his father's death.
"He had obstructive jaundice, yet the doctors decided to perform a major surgery. Because of that mistake, I lost my father," he claimed.
The young footballer previously represented Diamond Harbour in the RFDL and has now joined Southern Samity for the upcoming season.
The road ahead remains long, but Rohit is determined to keep moving forward. Every training session, every match and every step he takes is driven by one unwavering goal—to fulfil the dream his father could never achieve himself.
