NZ vs IND, 1st ODI: Tom Latham, Kane Williamson unbeaten partnership sink India by 7 wickets at Eden Park

Xtra Time Web Desk: An unbeaten 221 run partnership between Tom Latham (145*) and Kane Williamson (94*) saw New Zealand successfully chase 306 runs with 7 wickets in hand and 17 balls to spare. The win guarantees the BlackCaps staying on top of ODI rankings. The Kiwis lead the three-match series 1-0 with the 2nd ODI scheduled on Sunday at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Debutant Umran Malik was the pick of the Indian bowlers, picking two wickets after giving away 66 runs. The speedster from Jammu & Kashmir bagged his maiden ODI wicket in form of Devon Conway. He later removed Daryl Mitchell for his 2nd wicket. Finn Allen fell to Shardul Thakur in the 8th over.

Earlier in the day, Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan (72 off 77) and Shubman Gill (50 off 65) both scored half centuries as they put 124 runs for the first wicket. Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings well for his 80 runs off 76 balls. Sanju Samson scored 36 off 38 balls. Washington Sundar played a cameo (37 off 16) towards the end to see the total go past 300 runs. Eventually the visitors ended up scoring 306/7.
