Internet Desk: Novak Djokovic achieved the milestone of 700 career wins. The Serb took just 65 minutes to defeat Tunisian Malek Jaziri 6-1 , 6-2 at the Dubai Championships on Wednesday . In doing so , he also stormed into the quarter finals of the event .He will now face sixth seeded Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in the quarter finals.
Djokovic is now the 12th player to enter the all time win list which is headed by Jimmy Connors. The Serb is also the third current player after Roger Federer (1067) and Rafael Nadal (775) to achieve this feat.
Djokovic has won this tournament in Dubai four times but had lost to Federer in the last couple of years. His only anxious moment came when he was serving for the match as he double faulted to a break point but eventually fought back to secure a place in the last eight.
“Sounds like I played many matches in my career” Djokovic said after the match. Organizers created a #nole700 hash tag in honor of his feat.
