“Nothing like that. I just felt like it, so I did it”: Jasprit Bumrah on his celebration like Marcus Rashford

Xtra Time Web Desk: International football is quite popular among most Indian cricketers. Star Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma have openly admitted about their admiration for a particular club or player. The latest in that list is Team India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. During the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 game against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, Bumrah was seen doing ‘temple point’ celebration like Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.

On being asked about his celebration like the United star in the post-match press conference, he said it was nothing like that. He just felt like it, so he did it.

Bumrah was celebrating like the United star after scalping Ibrahim Zadran (22) on the fourth ball of the seventh over. Immediately after picking Zadran’s wicket, Bumrah was seen pointing his finger to the head. It was the same celebration Manchester United star Marcus Rashford uses when he celebrates a goal.

It is not the first time that a current India cricketer has imitated an international footballer. Bumrah’s teammate Mohammed Siraj, on several occasions has burst into Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘SIUUUU’ celebration.

Bumrah is a huge fan of Manchester United club as well. He was at the Old Trafford during his last visit to Manchester. He was also presented with a customised Manchester United home kit.

The fast bowler recently returned to the national side after being sidelined due to injury. Rashford, meanwhile, is at the end of a tough start to the football season where the Red Devils have lost four of the opening eight matches in the Premier League.
