Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday announced that Nitish Rana will be the captain of the side in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who is recovering from a back injury. The KKR management is hopeful that Shreyas will recover and participate at some stage in the IPL 2023 edition.
Nitish has captaincy experience having led his state side in white ball cricket. Another reason which might have influenced the KKR management is his IPL experience with KKR since 2018.
KKR released a statement on Monday that they hoped for Iyer’s return at some stage of the IPL 2023, but feel fortunate that they can hand over the captaincy to the left-hander who has been an integral part of the KKR batting order since 2018.
