Internet Desk: Anticipating stiff opposition from a section of the board members, the Supreme Court appointed COA (Committee of Administrators) on Tuesday instructed the BCCI officials to have all correspondence with the International Cricket Council (ICC) only after taking their permission.

The COA has communicated their views to the BCCI’s acting president C.K. Khanna, Jt. Secretary Amitabh Choudhary, Anirudh Chaudhry and BCCI CEO Rahul Johri.

The move comes in the wake of a few BCCI members headed by former BCCI President N Srinivasan having a teleconference to terminate ICC’s Member Participation Agreement on Tuesday morning. It would mean pulling out of all ICC events to be held from 2017-2023.

The BCCI has convened a Special General Meeting (SGM) in New Delhi on May 7 to consider the key resolutions and other decisions taken at the ICC meetings from April 22 to 26.

Earlier in the day, the board members were sent a SMS asking them to join a conference call, to seek their views on the termination of MPA.

Srinivasan’s ‘Big Three’ Revenue model was unanimously rejected by the member boards in the ICC annual conference in Dubai last week. The present ICC chairman Shashank Manohar played a key role in reforming the Revenue and Governance model which saw BCCI losing by 9-1 and 8-2 margin respectively.

There is also a section in BCCI who are apprehensive that if the SGM does clear the move to boycott the mini-World Cup in England, the Committee of Administrators would be heading straight to the Supreme Court which won’t reflect well.

For the board to make a resolution in SGM, it requires at least 15 votes which at the moment are not with Srinivasan. According to a reliable source in BCCI, the members are divided on the issue of India’s participation in the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy in June. Pulling out of the Champions Trophy will mean India might face isolation from the ICC. India’s participation in forthcoming ICC events like the Women’s World Cup will also get jeopardized. The ICC Women’s World Cup is supposed to be held from June 24 to July 23 in England.
