Kozhikode : German side TSV 1860 Munchen kick started their Nagjee campaign in style with a convincing 3-0 win over Argentina U-23 side at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode today .The Latin American side was strong favorites to win the match before the start. But the Germans proved everyone wrong with their power and skill .
1860 Munchen started the match with a positive intent , making frequent attacks in Argentine half . The Germans had a great opportunity to take the lead as Gerkinger’s shot in the 10th minute went wide . They kept on pressing for goals , making frequent attacks in the first 15 minutes . The German side did get rewarded as they earned a spot kick . Weber was trapped from behind just inside the box by an Argentine defender , and the referee did not hesitate to award a penalty for Munchen’s . The Argentine goalie Ferrero was successful in saving the penalty but could not keep the ball in hand and Bachschmith scored from the rebound shot and gave the Germans 1-0 lead in the 18th minute . TSV kept attacking and kept the argentine goalie Ferrero busy. In the mean time he made some good saves otherwise scoreline would have been different. In the 25th minute Seferings Simon made up for his earlier miss with a beautiful curler into the top corner to stretch the lead for TSV .
The German side went into the breather with a 2-0 lead . In the second half the Argentine team looked to change things around. But the German defenders stood tall like a wall in front of them. TSV kept on putting pressure in the second half too. Manmtonavo’s shot was saved by German goalie Fritz . TSV missed quite a few chances , otherwise the scoreline would have showed something else. Argentine defenders and midfielders looked quite harsh which resulted in quite a few booking against them.
